Initial Repeat

From taking my initials "AC" I designed the first motif. Then I repeated it to make a bold and simple design. Then I repeated it multiple times and reduced its size to create a pattern of visual texture. This entire project helped me start to learn how to use Adobe Illustrator, but I still have a lot to learn about that program. The last one (with lots of little repeats) did not turn out how I wanted it to and maybe I'll go back and change it up, but right now I'm too busy with other projects.

Texture Sphere

For this project I had to cover a Styrofoam ball with something textural and recycled. So I chose dead flowers. I don't think it looks at all like dead flowers, but that's because, with the help of some of my roommates, I peeled off all of the dried petals and spiky parts (from the pointed one). I got stabbed a couple times, but it was worth it because my professor really liked it. I titled it "Natural Connection" because you connect to nature through all of your senses, and I tried to incorporate as many of the 5 senses into my sphere as I could including sight, touch, and smell. I guess you could taste it if you really wanted to...

What I learned:
Inspiration comes from anywhere--when you're looking for it.
Nature is full of inspiration.
Ugly, poky things like dead flowers can be turned into something beautiful through vision, perseverance, and hard work (like blood and sweat...literally).
