Home Office Elevation

In my second year in the interior design program, I am taking my first space planning class and this is one of my first big projects. The assignment was to design a home office/guest room for a graphic designer and her visiting mother all reflecting the American Craftsman style. Here is the elevation that I dimensioned and rendered.

Word Project

Another project from last year was the word project, where I was assigned the word "charity" to define with color and images. After researching synonyms and less obvious images for charity, I selected the colors that I used to paint the background. Purple symbolized the nobility of this virtue, white was its purity, and black symbolized the nothingness of a person with out it. The background was scanned into the computer and then the images were added using Photoshop.
I learned how important it is to be able to communicate what you want to others through your work--it should be self-explanatory.

Hand Drafting Portfolio

This post is going back almost a year ago during my freshman year when I took my first hand drafting class. At first I felt as if I was back in kindergarten, writing scraggly letters between two horizontal lines divided by a dashed line. Looking back, I have definitely improved. But for it being my first time drafting, I caught on quickly and was able to help my fellow classmates.
The final assignment for this class was a compilation of plans for a Craftsman style home. I learned about the basics of construction as well as how to draw floor plans, elevations, lighting plans, and sections. Here is a selection of my work:

A New Semester

Here's a little sampling of my attempt at grayscale marker rendering. This new semester will definitely help me improve and it has some fun projects ahead. I'm learning the language of AutoCAD and taking a space planning class--it's starting to feel like I'm becoming an Interior Designer. Enjoy these next labors of love.
