Cakes by the Month

This post is dedicated to my sister Eliza. We made this cake together for my other sister's wedding in June.

We think it turned out pretty well. At least the kids liked it!

Eliza, and any of you aspiring cake decorators, you should have this as your New Years Resolution. I would be more than happy to support you in your efforts by being a taste tester.

alexis! that is gorgeous! you're good. i've always wondered, though: how does one make such a huge bottom layer? who has pans large enough for that?? it's very lovely though. well done to you and eliza your sister.

Well, the bottom and middle layer are actually styrofoam. Only the top layer is real and it's probably the most delicious cake I've eaten EVER. Homemade chocolate cake with oreo cream cheese frosting. Divine.
