Seattle's Tulips

A long time ago (April) I went to this magical place called Seattle, Washington.  There, I had a little reunion with my marvelous friends Amy, Elise, and Eliza.  One of the highlights of the trip (aka the only thing I took pictures of) was when we went to the Tulip Festival.  Here are some pictures of our fun.

Daffodils were there too.

Eliza and me.

Elise and me among the flowers (not literally...though I did almost fall into them).

Tulips.

Elise and me with some tulips growing on the tree in the background.

It's almost like we're in Holland!

Lonny Magazine

The new issue of Lonny is out now!  For those of you who don't know, Lonny is free online magazine with gorgeous pictures and inspiring interiors.  What's more, I know the designer who is on the cover!  Anna Burke was one of the designers at Kemble Interiors where I interned this past summer.  As in last year almost.  Can you believe all of my New York adventures happened almost a year ago?  Time flies!

Anyway, you could definitely check it out here.  They also feature a blogger I enjoy following.  And here's a nice song to listen to while you flip (or click?) through the magazine.

I'm obviously not busy enough if I'm posting on my blog while finals are going on... Oh well.  That's senior-itis for you.

Dictionary!

While I was looking up a word on my handy-dandy Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, I found this AWESOME link about colors.  Vermillion, cattleya, smalt...who knew?!

Just today I learned about peridot...

This post is undeniable proof that I'm an interior design nerd.

Experiencing painter's block

As many of you know, I'm taking a watercolor class.  Today I finished a painting--yay!  I thought it was a goner.  In true artist fashion, I wanted to give up, throw it away, and never see it again.  Thankfully my patient teacher showed me what to fix and now I really like it.  As she would say, "Happy day!"  I'll post a picture of it and the other two I've completed, along with some of the ones I did last semester...eventually.  Don't hold your breath or anything.

For now, I need a reference for my next painting.  Here are some images I took in Ireland and England along with some pictures I found on Pinterest.

1. Catskills Cottage (Pinterest)

2. Garden Bench (Pinterest)

3. Ireland

4. Amy in Ireland

5. Dove Cottage, England

6. English Pig

7. Wilton House Gardens, England

8. Oranges (Pinterest)
What do you think? Which one would you like to see painted?  Add a comment with your favorite number and/or title!

It's about time

About time for a post about things I love.  Not to be dramatic, but after the last couple weeks, it hasn't been as easy as usual to feel motivated, happy or inspired.  So here are some things that unfailingly make me smile.

1. Pen pal letters.

2. My watercolor class.

3. My family. Duh.

I made this for my mom for her birthday. There's a nice, long explanation to why we're Sailor Moon characters.

4. "Piano Man" by Billy Joel. Such a great song. I mean seriously.

And the piano it sounds like a carnival
And the microphone smells like a beer.

Classic.

5. The house from The Holiday. Pretty much any British cottage actually...

6. Harry Potter.  And Harry Potter related pins on Pinterest.

I'm noticing a pattern with myself.  I like lots of British things...

So, what are some things that make you happy? Places? Pets? People? Nice alliteration if I do say so.
